The Autumn Women and Girls programme began this week with all of our age groups from u11 to the seniors back training.
We welcomed a large number of new u11 players to our program who will receive a six-week development programme where our coaches will deliver all the fundamentals of the game and help support a lifelong love of the game.
Our other age groups at u13 u15 and u18 and Seniors all returned to training, and we again have welcomed some new players across some age groups. Our main principles of the autumn phase are to establish strong foundations developing the technical fundamentals of batting, bowling and fielding. Coaches work with players to develop consistent preparation and a get ready to play principle. This includes mobility, functional movements, activation and speed whilst allowing for variation and fun according to the age and stage of the players. We start to engage with players to develop a training ethic and a strong desire to learn.
The sessions are designed to be fun and engaging and encourage players to learn new skills. We seek ways to help develop and prepare players for the next level so exposure to different aspects of skill development is key. Our programs align where possible to our own development framework along with the Southern Vipers framework and the ECB’s Unleashing Potential document.
