What is BCOA and What are the Benefits of Joining?
ECB ACO (England and Wales Cricket Board Association of Cricket Officials) is the national governing body. When you join ECB ACO you will be asked to nominate a county to be associated with.
Do I Need To Be A Member Of Both Associations?
That depends on what sort of benefits you wish to gain. Many cricket competitions, including most of the county’s leagues and cups are run by the ECB and to officiate in these games, you must be an ECB ACO member. However, there are many different formats of cricket being played, including some local competitions and schools’ cricket. To officiate in these games’, you will need to DBS clearance (which is administered through ECB ACO) and insurance cover which ids automatically provided as a Member of ECB ACO.
Membership of BCOA is open to all members of ECB ACO no matter what county and provides useful information and support to their officials via regular Meetings, CPD Workshops, Pre-Season and Post-Season Seminars.
