What is BCOA and What are the Benefits of Joining?

ECB ACO (England and Wales Cricket Board Association of Cricket Officials) is the national governing body. When you join ECB ACO you will be asked to nominate a county to be associated with.

Do I Need To Be A Member Of Both Associations? 

That depends on what sort of benefits you wish to gain. Many cricket competitions, including most of the county’s leagues and cups are run by the ECB and to officiate in these games, you must be an ECB ACO member. However, there are many different formats of cricket being played, including some local competitions and schools’ cricket. To officiate in these games’, you will need to DBS clearance (which is administered through ECB ACO) and insurance cover which ids automatically provided as a Member of ECB ACO.

 

Membership of BCOA is open to all members of ECB ACO no matter what county and provides useful information and support to their officials via regular Meetings, CPD Workshops, Pre-Season and Post-Season Seminars. However, there are many different formats of cricket being played, including some local competitions and schools’ cricket; for these, priority is given to BCOA members WHAT DO I GET IF I JOIN ECB ACO?

  • Insurance cover when officiating and travelling to and from the ground.
  • ACO merchandise and ACO branded clothing available for purchase.
  • Quarterly newsletters containing articles from all levels of officials from internationals to recreational cricket.
  • Appointments to any ECB competitions that you are qualified to officiate in.
  • Mentoring and coaching to assist your progress along the officials’ pathway if so desired. These may require additional payment to ECB ACO.
  • The services of all elected County ACO Officers.

WHAT DO I GET IF I JOIN BCOA?

  • Discounted Training & Supported Professional Development over & above the offered by ECB ACO.
  • Help & Support to develop and progress on & through league panels over & above that offered by ECB ACO by the County Education and Development Teams.
  • Monthly Meetings

Our Monthly Meetings Provide:

  • The opportunity for continuing professional development (CPD) through an informal format of information, debate, workshops and a variety of guest speakers.
  • The chance to meet socially to discuss all aspects of the games with your peers.
  • Continuing Professional Development/ Social – Our free to members monthly meetings provide an opportunity to discuss all aspects of the game with your peers. An informal format of information, debate, workshops and a variety of guest speakers.

All this for £10 per Annum payable in January.
