On Sunday 7th April, The Berkshire Women’s First XI took on Exeter University in two T20 Friendly games which took place at Sulhamstead CC. Poppy Tulloch captained the side to two strong victories as the run in to the league season continues to edge ever closer.
The first game saw Exeter bat first, an excellent effort in the field from the girls saw Exeter get bowled out for just 66 runs. Berkshire managed to chase this total down in 16.5 overs. A tricky pitch to bat on to say the least but that didn’t stop the two teams from playing a second game just a few hours later.
Berkshire batting first this time, managed to navigate their way to a very respectable 112/5 off their 20 overs. After the first bowling performance the girls were confident that they could replicate what was a fantastic bowing display. And so they did by restricting Exeter to 68/7 off their 20 overs.
Two wins for Berkshire Girls as they continue to galop momentum as the first league game continues to edge ever closer. The girls kick start their season on the 26th May when they have two T20 games against Sussex CCC and Buckinghamshire CCC.
A special mention to the hard working, determined and inspiring ground staff at Sulhamstead CC for their incredible efforts on making the pitch playable amidst all the damp weather we have experienced this year. They were preparing the pitch for nine hours on the Saturday before hand to make sure cricket was able to be played, a huge well done and everyone is grateful for the hard work you have put in.
