The last couple of weeks have seen our team back delivering State School Competitions across the county,
Women & Girls Development Officer Michelle Jeyarajah managed an indoor girls Secondary festival on the 13th of November which built on from the huge interest which shown from schools particularly in the Slough area after participation events they took part in during the summer term. On November 13th, Herschel Grammar opened their doors to kindly host an indoor festival for the Under-15s girls, with four schools participating in a fun and energetic day. Looking ahead, our Under-13s indoor competition at Herschel Grammar on December 2nd promises to be another fantastic event.
Michelle Commented “These competitions are an essential part of our programme, providing a platform for the girls to showcase the skills they’ve developed through after-school clubs and curriculum work. The excitement and enthusiasm from the girls are always evident, and we’re thrilled to continue offering these opportunities for them to shine!”
On Wednesday 13th November last week, Schools Competition Manager Ally Darlow le the Berkshire Cricket team hosting our first Primary School Competition of the 2024/25 academic year.
Four of our coaches travelled to Desborough College in Maidenhead where we ran a Year 1 & 2 All Stars Skills Festival, getting lots of cricket related activities in front of over 160 children from five different schools. The day was broken down into two 90-minute sessions, with all of the children getting to experience short, sharp 10-minute spells on each of our cricket skills stations. This gave all of the children the opportunity to experience cricket for the first time in a fun environment where they could try their hands at batting, bowling and fielding alongside their classmates.
Ally Commented “The day was able to run smoothly owing to both the fantastic Berkshire Cricket Coaching team, but also thanks to the support provided by Young Leaders from Desborough College and the tireless work of Emma Fitgerals, Partnership Development Manager for the Ascot & Maidenhead School Sports Partnership.”
The next exciting festival day we have to look forward to is in the New Year, on February 5th in Slough where we’ll be running another Year 1 & 2 indoor Cricket Skills Festival.
