Poppy Tulloch signs her first professional contract with Hampshire Cricket

Berkshire Cricket are delighted to see Hampshire Cricket’s announcement that Poppy Tulloch has signed her first professional contract with the club.

Now 18, Poppy first begun her representative cricket journey as an U10 with Berkshire before moving through our pathway before joining the Southern Vipers Academy. In the last 12 months, Poppy has played regular Academy/2nd Eleven cricket with the Vipers, picking up regular wickets. Her performances saw her included in various matchday squads for the Vipers 1st XI across the summer. Poppy finished her summer playing in the School Games against Ireland & Scotland U19s. Her performances at the School Games saw her named as part of the England U19 World Cup Training Group.

The club game within Berkshire has also supported Poppy’s cricketing journey starting out at Hungerford CC (the same club that current England International Lauren Bell started out at) before more recently playing for the Women’s/Girl’s teams at Binfield CC.

Hampshire’s Regional Director of Cricket Adam Carty said “Poppy has seen a dramatic rise in status over the past 24 months having spent only one seasonal cycle on both the regional emerging player program and Vipers Academy, before gaining pro-rookie status. This rise has been born out of her tenacity, ambition, and obvious talent.

She has demonstrated the ability to bowl right arm seam in really good areas and is clearly a fast learner. We are also pretty excited about her being a potential point of difference with the bat in due course such is the power she clearly possesses.”

“Signing with Hampshire Cricket is a testament to Poppy’s hardwork and commitment to the game. Her progression from junior cricket in Berkshire to a professional contract will hopefully inspire more young girls in our county. It reflects the strength of the pathway and opportunities available within Berkshire Cricket, as well as the collective support of the regional player pathway programme.”

We look forward to continuing to work collaboratively with Hampshire Cricket and the Vipers to provide a pathway for female cricketers in Berkshire to the women’s professional game.
