Berkshire’s 1st XI return to action this weekend as they take on Wiltshire in the Marlborough Cup, with the fixture set to take place at Thatcham Cricket Club. The match, scheduled for an 11am start, marks the second outing for new head coach Bjorn Mordt, with the squad looking to build on the foundations laid in his first gameday last Sunday against Hampshire.
There’s a fresh energy in the Berkshire camp, with Mordt’s arrival and Sunday will give him another opportunity to see the players in action. The squad for Sunday sees a couple of changes with Johnny Connell playing for Exeter University against Somerset, having played for Essex 2’s this week and Yash Lakhani unavailable. Andrew MacEwen and Eddie Campion return having played against us for Hampshire 2’s on Sunday.
Wiltshire, always a well-drilled and dangerous outfit, will be looking to upset the hosts and regain the Marlborough Cup. But Berkshire, buoyed by home support and the promise of a new era, will be determined to stamp their authority on proceedings.
