Stoke Mandeville Stadium was the venue for the London and Thames Valley regional Table Cricket competition which saw schools from Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Cricket East, Oxfordshire and Middlesex compete for a place in the national final at Lords Cricket Ground in June.
Kennet School of Thatcham were Berkshire’s representative on the day having won last months county final at Loddon Valley Leisure Centre.
The team arrived in great spirits, all excited about the day ahead. Things couldn’t have started any better for them as they won their first two games. The next three games proved a bit more challenging but the team gave their everything and demonstrated some fantastic Table Cricket skills throughout. After all the matches were played Kennet were named in 4th place.
During the medal ceremony, Lords Taverners announced a special ‘Spirit of Cricket’ award which would be given out to a player who demonstrated outstanding values throughout the day. This year’s award went to Oliver from Kennet for being incredibly supportive and encouraging of his teammates and the opposing schools.
A huge well done to Kennet for making it so far in the competition. Talks have already begun between the students and their teachers about how they can play more Table Cricket to ensure they go one better next year.
Our Table Cricket programme continues to become more popular each year. 2025/2026 will see new East and West Berkshire competitions on top of the County Final to ensure there are more opportunities for students to represent their school in Table Cricket.
