Brand New Maidenhead and Bray Ladies Softball Team Win Softball Festival at Chalfont St Peters CC
Situated in a picturesque part of the County, Maidenhead and Bray Cricket club is home to a thriving colts section as well as a Hardball Ladies side and more recently a Ladies softball team.
This summer Berkshire cricket introduced the Women’s Softball League which saw 21 teams across 3 Divisions participating in matches all throughout the season.
Clubs such as Maidenhead and Bray unfortunately didn’t have a team to register for the league this year but since hearing about the exciting competitions it sparked a huge amount of interest in the ladies at the club. Lead by our Women and Girls Development officer Michelle Jeyarajah, the Maidenhead and bray ladies attended weekly training sessions and participated in friendlies against Boyne Hill CC they also participated in 2 festivals and one of which they won at Chalfont St Peter’s on the 1st of September which saw 6 teams competing! It was a close final between The Maidenhead and Bray CC and Haddenham CC, it all came down to the last ball where the Maidenhead and bray Ladies needed 1 run to win, they hit a 4 and won the match!
The Maidenhead and Bray Ladies are currently gearing up for our Softball World Cup event representing Team Sri Lanka, we wish them and all the other teams the best of luck!
If you are part of a club who would like to get a Softball Ladies side together or if you have any questions, please reach out to Michelle Jeyarajah – [email protected]
