On Wednesday 13th March, Berkshire Cricket ran a Teacher Training CPD course at Newlands Girls’ School, Maidenhead.
Our Schools Manager, Ally Darlow delivered an engaging, interactive and insightful course on how teachers can incorporate cricket into P.E lessons. We had a look at how teachers can coach/teach all types of cricketing skills such as throwing, catching, bowling and batting to children ageing from 5 years to 12 years old. By covering such a large age bracket, these teachers will be able to manage sessions to all ages and abilities and therefore giving them further confidence that they can meet the needs of the target audience. One way we managed to help our teachers out was by introducing them to the STEP Framework. This framework acts as a guide for coaches to make sure that they are covering everything in their sessions.
Each session comes with it’s own challenges, however this course will give you the resources to be able to tackle any challenges you may experience when carrying out these sessions.
The Teacher Training CPD has many benefits for our fellow teachers such as empowering teachers with different teaching methods, how drills can be progressed/regressed depending on the participants ability and fundamentally will enhance the teachers ability to deliver an engaging and successful P.E lesson to their classes.
This course is FREE for all that wish to get involved and if you would like to have the opportunity to partake in one of these Teacher Training CPD’s please do get in contact with our Schools Manager, Ally Darlow.
