Head Coach Tom Lambert has named a 15 man squad for this weekends NCCA T20 group 2 encounters with Buckinghamshire on Sunday at Falkland CC and Monday at Ampthill CC Vs Bedfordshire.
With last weeks opening two fixtures with Hertfordshire washed out by the weather, there’s little wiggle room over the bank holiday weekend as our men know what they need to do in order to qualify for the next stage of the competition. The top two from each of the five groups, plus the two best-performing third-placed sides, will advance to the Super 12s stage, therefore the lads know three wins from four will ensure a safe passage through whilst two would likely leave
qualification in the hands of net run rate. Anything less will result in elimination in what now, is a sprint finish of a tournament.
In regards to the short nature of the T20 tournament, Tom Lambert commented, “The whole country bar two games had complete wash outs so we’re pretty much all in the same boat nation wide which will make for exciting cricket this weekend. We play two quality teams and are looking forward to the challenge of results cricket. The weather looks to be playing ball so NCCA cricket should be an exciting watch over the bank holiday weekend!”
Tommy Sturgess and Toby Albert are added to last weeks squad to give captain Dan Lincoln lots of options ahead of a busy weekend.
“T20 cricket always lends itself to squad depth as you try to put the correct combinations on the pitch per game. With four games in two days against different teams on different grounds, I’m looking forward to having my squad with me as we navigate our way through the two days” said Berkshire captain Dan Lincoln.
