Double Success for Mens 1st XI

Berkshire 1st XI men’s team play at Falkland CC this Sunday against a strong Buckinghamshire team.

Berkshire opened their Trophy campaign with an eight wickets victory over Oxfordshire at Wormsley in Group Three in their first competitive match under new Head Coach Bjorn Mordt on Sunday. Oxfordshire were bowled out for 159 with the wickets shared around and Berkshire coasted home with more than 20 overs to spare after Johnny Connell and Rhys Lewis had opened with a partnership of 119 in 18 overs.Connell, who is trialling with Essex, continued where he left off after a prolific season last year with 65 and Lewis made 56.

 

On Monday Berkshire faced Cornwall at Slough and after being sent into bat posted a competitive total of 256, once again Jonny Connell led the way with his first Trophy century.Connell’s 120 from 132 balls included 12 fours and two sixes with Rhys Lewis sharing an opening partnership of 83. Andy Rishton then reduced Cornwall to 19 for three from which they never fully recovered and Berkshire ran out comfortable winners.

Into the squad comes allrounder Ben Salter who is an exciting youngster who has missed the start of the season with an ankle injury. Exciting things are expected of him. It is going to be a great game on Sunday and Berkshire hope to continue their perfect start to the season.
