Dynamos Winners Crowned

2025 Girls Dynamos Finals
At the end of a busy summer term for Berkshire Primary Schools, our participation team hosted the Girls Dynamos Finals Day, as 10 schools from across the county descended on Reading Cricket Club to compete to be crowned champions for 2025.

The 10 attending schools qualified for the event by either winning or coming runners-up at competitions hosted by each local authority within the county. The schools in question were Holyport and Furze Platt from Maidenhead; Godolphin and Montem from Slough; John Rankin and Hungerford from West Berks; Warfield and Whitegrove from Bracknell; St Peters from Windsor and Robert Piggot from Wokingham.

The event ran smoothly, with our coaches umpiring and scoring some excellent games of cricket until the competition was down to just two teams left to play out the final.

Whitegrove and Godolphin met in the final having both won all of matches in the group stage, and played out an entertaining game, which ended with Godolphin claiming the win 64 runs to Whitegrove’s 51, in a low scoring game where both teams bowling impressed.

This makes it two years in a row that Godolphin have won the Girls Dynamos finals, having overcome Lynch Hill in last year’s final in the 2024 competition.

A massive thank you for the smooth running of the day at Reading CC has to go to the cricket club for generously hosting the event; to the Berkshire SGO’s for their support in the regional competitions helping to work out our qualifying teams and to Chris Vaal and the Berkshire coaches for ensuring the running of the day was as smooth as possible.

2025 Open Dynamos Finals

On Tuesday this week, and following the success of the Girls Dynamos event last Thursday, Berkshire cricket hosted their annual finals day for the Open Dynamos Primary School Competition at Reading Cricket Club.

The showpiece final saw 11 schools rock up at Reading CC having qualified via beating out other schools within their local authority across the county. The qualified schools were Furze Platt and Holy Trinity from Maidenhead; Cippenham and Godolphin from Slough; Falkland and Birch Copse from West Berks; Radstock, Willow Bank and Hawkedon from Wokingham; New Scotland Hill from Bracknell and St Peters from Windsor.

The day ran smoothly, with the 11 teams split into groups of 5 and 6 and playing our five rounds of matches before the two group winners faced off in a showpiece final.

After a thrilling day of Dynamos cricket – scored and umpired by our fantastic Berkshire Cricket coaches – the final took place between Hawkedon and Radstock, an all Wokingham affair in the last Dynamos game of the 2024/25 school year.

Both teams batted brilliantly in the final, with Hawkedon very narrowly beating Radstock 81 runs to 74. The difference between the teams just 7 runs in a game where 20 of the 80 total balls were hit for boundaries.

The day was enjoyed by players, teachers and coaches alike, as some of the best Primary School aged cricketers across the county came together to showcase their skills and compete against each other.

Much like the girls event last Thursday, huge thanks has to go to Reading CC for hosting both of our finals days; to the SGO’s for helping to run the local competitions where our 11 schools qualified and to Chris Vaal and our Berkshire coaching team for organising the day so brilliantly.
