Last year, on September 22nd, Berkshire Cricket hosted the inaugural Women’s Softball Cricket World Cup, a truly special event that celebrated the vibrant cultures within the women’s softball community in Berkshire. Led by Michelle Jeyarajah, the Women and Girls Development Officer, the tournament featured teams representing Italy, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Australia, the West Indies, South Africa, and England. More than just a competition, this event was a heartfelt community celebration, fostering friendships and promoting cultural exchange.
The day was filled with resilience, camaraderie, and unity as players shared traditional food and drinks from their home countries. It was a powerful reminder of how sport can transcend borders and bring together people from diverse backgrounds.
Due to its overwhelming success and the call for more, we are thrilled to announce that the Women’s Softball Cricket World Cup is returning this year on the 22nd of June at Crowthorne and Crownwood cricket club. Save the date – you won’t want to miss it!
