The 2024 season came to a thrilling finale last weekend with Henley pipping Finchampstead to take the Mens Home Counties Premier League title by just 1 point. Henley’s 41 run victory over Finchampstead saw them crowned champions for the first time since 2019.
The Women’s Home Counties Premier League was won by Moreton Mavericks with Berkshire’s highest finishing side Falkland who came just short of retaining their title having to settle for third position. In Division 2 South Slough were Champions and will look forward to a greater challenge in 2025.
The Thames Valley League was won by Falkland who return to the Home Counties Division 2 for the first time since 2014 other notable Berkshire winners of TVCL leagues were Finchampstead 2nd XI who won Division 3A, Emmbrook & Bearwood 1st XI who won Division 4A and Maidenhead & Bray 2nd XI who won division 4B.
The Bracknell United 2nd XI were the highest Berkshire finishers in the Berkshire, Chilterns & Mid Bucks League securing a second place finish with Farley Hill 1st XI claiming the Berkshire Premier League Title.
The inaugural Berkshire Women’s Softball Leagues were won by Crowthorne and Crownwood who took home the Division 1 crown, Reading Lions secured the Division 2 title with their second string taking out the Division 3 title.
The Berkshire Blast saw Falkland beat Slough to the top spot, whilst in The South East Shires Cricket League which continued its year on year expansion in 2024, with 8 full Divisions and a total of 74 teams, a large proportion of them from Berkshire. In fact, in the Premier Division, there were very nearly Berkshire champions as Slough Warriors and Kinara narrowly missed out on the big prize to High Wycombe Gymkhana. However, there were Berkshire successes elsewhere in the league, as West Reading 1st XI won Division 2 and Strictly Family won Division 4A. This autumn, a league Representative XI will once again embark on an overseas tour, this time to the UAE.
In midweek Cricket The Serious Cricket Downs League was won by Falkland, the Bracknell Midweek League saw Finchampstead just pipping Wokingham to the title and Hurst were winners of the Reading Midweek Cricket League
