Berkshire Women’s Softball World Cup Festival 2026 Celebrates International Cricket and Community Spirit

The Berkshire Women’s Softball World Cup Festival 2026 proved to be a resounding success, bringing together players, volunteers, supporters and local communities for a memorable celebration of women’s cricket.
Held just days before the start of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England, the festival showcased the growing strength and popularity of women’s cricket at grassroots level. Twelve clubs, representing twelve different countries, competed for World Cup honours in a day filled with competitive matches, sportsmanship, camaraderie and enjoyment.
Following the event, Michelle Jeyarajah, Berkshire Cricket Women & Girls Officer, praised the spirit of the festival:
“The Berkshire Women’s Softball World Cup Festival perfectly captured everything that makes our game so special. Seeing twelve teams representing twelve nations come together to compete with such enthusiasm, respect and sportsmanship was incredibly inspiring. The event wasn’t just about cricket; it was about bringing communities together, celebrating diversity, creating opportunities for women and girls to play, and building lasting friendships through sport.”

The event offered much more than cricket. Attendees enjoyed live music, a barbecue, raffle prizes and a range of local vendors, creating a vibrant festival atmosphere throughout the day. Organisers also thanked hosts Crowthorne & Crown Wood Cricket Club for their support in delivering the event.
After a series of exciting matches, New Zealand, represented by Binfield Cricket Club, emerged as the 2026 champions, earning a well-deserved victory after an impressive tournament campaign.
Michelle added:
“I would like to thank all the players, volunteers, officials, supporters and our hosts at Crowthorne & Crown Wood Cricket Club for helping make this our biggest and most successful festival yet. Events like this demonstrate the power of cricket to inspire, connect communities and create opportunities for women and girls across Berkshire.”

As the festival concluded, attention turned to the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, with participants and organisers wishing England every success as they prepared to begin their campaign against Sri Lanka at Edgbaston.
The Berkshire Women’s Softball World Cup Festival 2026 once again demonstrated the positive impact of grassroots cricket, celebrating inclusion, community spirit and the continued growth of the women’s game.
