Womens 1st XI Return to Action

August 8, 2025

Match Preview

Following the conclusion of our T20 campaign attentions now return to the 50 Over cricket format. The Women will make the trip to Warrington Sports Ground on Sunday 10th August to face Cheshire Women.

Berkshire currently sit 2nd in the 50 over table with 2 wins and 1 loss. Our opponents sit in joint 3rd with the same record as us, with just 1 bonus point separating the sides. After the disappointment of missing out on the T20 finals day having been in a strong position going into the final round of fixtures, the side will be looking to pick up where we left off in the 50 over format with commanding wins against Hertfordshire and Wiltshire.

Like us, Cheshire also suffered an opening day loss in the 50 over format (vs Wiltshire) but have since then secured a 66-run victory over Cambridgeshire and a 4 wicket win over Staffordshire.

Team News

5 changes are made to the squad that last faced Wiltshire in the T20 competition. All-rounder, Eliza Bristowe returns to the squad having missed the T20 campaign due to injury and then selection for an England U19s camp. Fiza Asif Iqbal having made her debut earlier in the season comes into the side and will keep wicket following a series of impressive performance with bat & ball in U18s cricket along with left arm spinner, Tanvi Ravikumar. Cesca Sweet is available again and returns to the side with playing commitments for Leicestershire allowing. Cesca has had a brilliant summer so far, finishing with the 2nd most runs in the Tier 2 T20 competition and has earnt herself opportunities in 2nd XI cricket with Surrey where she made 97 on debut. Cesca’s innings was ended coincidentally by another player returning to our side this week in Poppy Tulloch. Having secured a Tier 1 rookie contract with Hampshire over the winter, Poppy has been playing for Hampshire as well as loan spells with Tier 2 side Glamorgan this summer. With Tier 1 cricket pausing during The Hundred an opportunity has emerged for Poppy to return on loan to Berkshire for a spell.
