🌟 Staff Spotlight: Verity Johnson – Women’s Development Phase Lead

We’re excited to shine the spotlight on Verity Johnson, Berkshire Cricket’s Women’s Development Phase Lead Verity has been instrumental in shaping the U10–U12 and Development Girls Pathway Programme, helping young players take their first steps on their cricketing journey.

About Her Role:

Verity oversees the U10–U12 and Development Girls Pathway Programme, introducing young players to the county pathway and supporting their growth both on and off the pitch. When she’s not in the sports hall delivering engaging sessions, she’s busy planning programmes and helping to steer the strategic direction of the Women & Girls Talent Pathway. Her work ensures that every player, coach, and volunteer has the support and structure they need to succeed.

What She Loves Most:

“Introducing young players to the pathway programme and sharing my passion for the game!”

Verity loves inspiring the next generation to develop a lifelong love for cricket — seeing young players grow in confidence and skill is what motivates her every day.

Off the Field:

A Reading FC season ticket holder, Verity brings her sporting enthusiasm beyond cricket too! She’s also recently taken up pickleball, proving that her love for sport doesn’t stop when the match ends.

Her sporting hero is Sir Jimmy Anderson — “He is a fantastic bowler!” — whose consistency, professionalism, and passion for the game continue to inspire her.

Vision for Cricket:

Verity is passionate about creating a pathway where every young girl feels welcome, valued, and empowered. She believes in developing not just players, but confident, well-rounded individuals who love the game and the community that comes with it.

Fun Fact:

Verity insists that “The toss must be done the night before!!! Us WAGs have social lives to plan!!”

Motto:

“Always remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think, and loved more than you know.” – Robin, Winnie the Pooh

Berkshire Cricket is proud to have Verity leading the way in developing opportunities for young women and girls within the pathway — inspiring players, supporting coaches, and helping shape the future of the women’s game.
