Super 1’s Festival
Sunday 30th November saw participants from our 3 Super 1’s hubs come together for a day of cricket at Kings Academy Prospect. Members of our Wokingham, Maidenhead and Bulmershe Super 1’s were tested on their catching and throwing skills before practicing their bowling. The group was split into two teams (Blue and Yellow) with teams scoring points depending on how well they did during each activity.
After practicing the skills, the day finished with a pairs game of cricket between the two sides. Yellow team batted first and managed to score an impressive 59 runs, losing 6 wickets along the way. In reply, the blue team managed to keep the game incredibly close right until the end. Needing 7 off the last over, some tight bowling from the yellow team meant they held on to win by 2 runs.
Every participant received a new cricket ball to continue improving their skills at home, as well as a medal for taking part. A mum of one of the participants said “he had the most amazing time today, in his words, I made a few friends. He had a smile on his face for the rest of the day.”
Super 1’s takes place each week at 3 different locations around the county. You can find out more about the programme here: Super 1s – Berkshire Cricket
