Maidenhead & Bray Girls Head to Lord’s for BBC Christmas Feature with Theresa May

On Tuesday, our Women and Girls Development Officer, Michelle Jeyarajah, together with six girls from Maidenhead & Bray Cricket Club, were invited to Lord’s Cricket Ground for a very special opportunity, a BBC Radio Christmas interview where they will feature alongside Theresa May.

Baroness May, former UK Prime Minister, lifelong cricket supporter, and proud MCC member, has a deep connection to the sport. With Maidenhead falling within her constituency, it felt especially fitting that the girls were chosen to take part in this unique experience.

During the recording, the girls spoke confidently about their love for cricket, how the sport has shaped their lives, and what they’re most looking forward to in the year ahead, particularly the excitement surrounding next year’s Women’s T20 World Cup, hosted here on home soil.

The day offered much more than just an interview. The girls enjoyed a cricket session led by Michelle in the Nursery Pavilion, followed by a tour of the famous Long Room, and a visit to the Lord’s Museum, where they explored the heritage of the game.

This was a truly memorable experience for everyone involved, a celebration of Women’s cricket, local community connections, and the growing opportunities within the women’s game.

You can hear the full feature when it airs on BBC Radio on the 31st December.
