Meet the Team: Brian Cooper

Role: Safeguarding Manager

About His Role

As Berkshire Cricket’s Safeguarding Manager, Brian works closely with clubs and coaches across the county to make sure that everyone involved in cricket enjoys a safe, supportive and welcoming environment. His work ensures that players of all ages and abilities can participate in the game with confidence and security.


What He Enjoys Most

“Meeting and working with people from a variety of backgrounds who all share a love of cricket.”

Brian takes great satisfaction in connecting with volunteers, coaches and players from all walks of life, helping them build environments where cricket can truly thrive.


Outside of Work

Brian still plays cricket regularly for Theale and Tilehurst CC, keeping his competitive spirit alive on the field. His rugby days may be behind him, but the passion for sport remains as strong as ever.

His current sporting hero is Tadej Pogačar — an athlete Brian admires for his incredible versatility:

Brian believes simplicity and accessibility are key to cricket’s growth and enjoyment — values that echo throughout his safeguarding philosophy.


Fun Fact

In an incredible show of resilience, Brian once finished an indoor cricket match after suffering a heart attack — before heading to hospital.
