The Government has launched an eight week consultation on reforming the role of statutory consultees in the planning system, closing on 13 January 2026.
This proposal could have serious consequences for the protection of cricket pitches from development. Without Sport England’s statutory role, our game risks losing a vital safeguard. We’re therefore encouraging all partner organisations and clubs to respond to the consultation and call on the UK Government to reconsider.
The Sport and Recreation Alliance are coordinating a sports wide campaign to respond to the consultation and share our concerns with key politicians.
