🌟 Staff Spotlight: Raabia Akhter – Participation Coach
Meet Raabia Akhter, one of Berkshire Cricket’s passionate Participation Coaches, who has been part of the team since 2018. Raabia plays a vital role in growing the game and making cricket accessible to communities across Slough and beyond.
About Her Role
Raabia leads and delivers cricket across primary and secondary schools, supports Slough Girls Street Cricket, and organises girls’ competitions and festivals.
She is also heavily involved in community outreach, national holiday programmes, and the MCC Girls Slough programme, helping bring cricket to new audiences and creating inclusive opportunities for participation.
What She Loves Most
“Working with a wide range of different people and developing their cricket skills, knowledge and confidence.”
Her Cricket Journey
Raabia set up the girls’ and ladies’ section at Slough Cricket Club and currently plays for the Slough CC softball team.
Away from cricket, she enjoys playing badminton and even organises badminton tournaments for women, continuing her commitment to women’s sport.

Vision for Cricket
Raabia believes in introducing cricket earlier in life, starting in nursery settings, while also expanding opportunities for walking cricket, especially for aunties within the community.
Fun Fact
Raabia is deeply passionate about charity work and has travelled to Pakistan, spending ten days delivering sports sessions in an orphan school.
