The annual Berkshire Cricket Table Cricket competition took place on Wednesday 11th February at Loddon Valley Leisure Centre. The competition continues to be a hit for students and teachers at the schools in the county. This year’s edition saw 8 schools from across Berkshire take part with Oak Tree and Trinity School competing for the first time.
The group stages kicked off the morning and there was some fantastic table cricket on show from all players. After a bit of lunch, the schools faced off in the placement matches. Oak Tree, despite being first timers, came third with 4 fantastic wins during the day. The final saw 3-time champions Kennet take on Rise@GHC for a place in the regional final next month. Both teams gave everything for their schools to win the cup with Rise@GHC coming out on top to win an incredibly close final by 4 runs.
Commenting on her visit to the event, Chair Jayne Haines said “Today was fabulous. So much excitement and joy. Not to mention the competitiveness of some of the teams!”
A massive thank you must go to our young leaders from Maiden Erlegh who helped score and umpire the games. They were supportive of each student which helped contribute to an amazing day for everyone involved.
Table Cricket is an inclusive game which is perfect for any school looking for a new activity to introduce at their school. Find out more about the game by visiting the disability section of the Berkshire Cricket website.
