Berkshire ACO Delivers Successful Umpire Development Course at Henley CC

Berkshire ACO recently delivered a highly successful two-day ECB ACO Umpire Development Course at Henley Cricket Club in March, supporting the continued growth of officiating standards across the county.

The course is designed to bridge the gap between introductory training and officiating in league cricket, providing a vital next step for those looking to progress their umpiring journey. Over the two days, participants developed both their knowledge and practical fieldcraft, equipping them with the confidence to officiate one-day recreational and league matches.

Attendance included individuals who had completed the ECB Introduction to Umpiring, as well as those bringing prior cricketing and umpiring experience. The course also welcomed scorers keen to gain a deeper understanding of the umpire’s role, reflecting a collaborative approach to improving the overall standard of the game.

The programme covered key aspects of the Laws of Cricket alongside essential on-field skills, ensuring a well-rounded learning experience for all involved.

Berkshire Cricket and Berkshire ACO continue to work closely together to increase participation in umpiring and scoring across the county. Initiatives such as this development course play an important role in supporting and inspiring the next generation of officials.
