The opening two Berkshire Club Coaches Workshops, focusing on batting and bowling, proved a great success, with over 40 coaches attending across the two evenings at Waingels College.
Delivered by a team of experienced pathway coaches — Neal Robinson, Hammad Ali, Euan Woods, Tom Jackson, James Woodford and Mark Foster — the sessions provided a highly engaging and practical learning environment for coaches working within junior cricket across the county.
Both workshops were designed to mirror the standards and expectations of the Berkshire pathway, giving attendees valuable insight into how players are developed at county level. A key feature of the evenings was the use of players from both the boys’ and girls’ pathways, who supported the delivery through live demonstrations. This added a real-game context to the sessions and allowed coaches to see skills and techniques executed at a high level.

The batting session focused on core principles, technical development and progressive drills, while the bowling workshop explored key fundamentals, skill acquisition and game-relevant practices. Across both evenings, there was a strong emphasis on interaction, with coaches encouraged to ask questions, share experiences and take part in discussions throughout.
Feedback from attendees was extremely positive, with many highlighting the value of seeing practical demonstrations and gaining a clearer understanding of how to structure effective, engaging sessions for young players.

With one workshop still to come, there is another opportunity for coaches to get involved. The Fielding & Wicketkeeping Workshop will take place on Monday 27th April (6–9pm) at Wargrave Cricket Club, and a limited number of places are still available. Coaches are encouraged to book early to avoid missing out on what promises to be another informative and hands-on session. CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP NOW
