Berkshire Cricket Launches Search for New Chair

Berkshire Cricket is seeking an ambitious and forward-thinking individual to become the next Chair of the organisation, helping to lead recreational and representative cricket across the county into its next phase of growth and success.

As a charitable incorporated organisation, Berkshire Cricket is committed to enabling more people to play cricket in more places, ensuring the game is accessible to all regardless of age, background or ability. With participation continuing to grow across the county, the organisation is now looking for a new Chair who can provide strategic leadership, champion strong governance, and support the continued development of the game at every level.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Board and executive team to shape the future direction of Berkshire Cricket, supporting long-term sustainability while promoting the organisation’s core values of inclusion, safeguarding and community engagement.

Recent years have seen significant progress across the county game, including:

  • More than 1,500 junior matches played annually across boys’ and girls’ competitions
  • Continued growth in coach, volunteer and official development programmes
  • Success in women’s cricket, including a Division One title in the inaugural women’s domestic 50-over competition
  • Strong player pathways, with Berkshire players progressing into professional academies and England age-group squads
  • Expanding community programmes including All Stars, Dynamos, disability cricket and urban cricket initiatives

Berkshire Cricket is looking for a Chair with proven board leadership experience, strong strategic and governance skills, and the ability to build trusted relationships across the cricketing landscape and wider community. Knowledge of cricket and experience working with volunteer-led organisations would be advantageous.

The role involves approximately two to three days per month and includes chairing Board meetings, stakeholder engagement and supporting the executive leadership team. The appointment will initially be for a three-year term, renewable once subject to governance requirements.
