The two sides meet having enjoyed encouraging starts to their campaigns. Berkshire currently hold a record of one win and one defeat from their opening matches, while Wales have won two of their four fixtures and sit second in the Group 3 standings.
Berkshire began their campaign in impressive fashion with a commanding 114-run victory over Oxfordshire, posting 191 for 8 before dismissing their opponents for 77. However, their second fixture proved a much tighter affair as Oxfordshire secured a two-wicket victory despite Berkshire posting 180 for 9.
Wales, meanwhile, recovered from successive defeats to Bedfordshire by recording back-to-back victories over Oxfordshire. Scores of 199 for 3 and 210 for 7 demonstrated the strength of their batting line-up, with victories by 43 runs and 30 runs respectively moving them into a strong position within the group.
With Bedfordshire currently leading the standings, Sunday’s fixtures represent an important opportunity for both counties to strengthen their qualification prospects. Four points remain available across the double-header and the outcome could have a significant bearing on the shape of Group 3 as the competition progresses.
Berkshire will be seeking to build upon the positive aspects of their opening performances and secure a valuable return from their trip to South Wales against a side that has shown strong recent form.
