SEND Report 2025/2026
As the school year draws to a close, Berkshire Cricket reflects on a fantastic year for our SEND Schools Cricket offer in the county.
Beginning back in September 2025 with a SEND skills festival at Emmbrook and Bearwood Cricket Club for primary schools, the year has also seen a successful Table Cricket competition, more skills festivals and our annual softball competition at Wokingham Cricket Club.
We have had two schools (Rise@GHC and The Avenue) represent Berkshire at the Regional Table Cricket and Soft Ball competition respectively, both coming incredibly close to reaching the national finals.
In partnership with Lords Taverners, we have been able to deliver to 21 schools throughout the year, which includes 5 new settings. Schools can choose a terms worth of table cricket, softball or a combination of both. This has helped us to reach more young people with SEND and ensure they engage in the most appropriate form of cricket.
Kennet School in Thatcham has gained national recognition for using Table Cricket to break down barriers within the school, using the game to allow their disabled students to play with their peers. The game has also created leadership opportunities for their students which have been used towards their GCSE PE awards.
Finally, our annual softball competition at Wokingham CC was a great success once again. The day gives the students the opportunity to showcase all the skills they have learned over the course of the year and compete for their school in competitive cricket.
As the summer break begins, Berkshire Cricket will be planning for another exciting academic year, with the aim of expanding the programme further and creating even more opportunities for children and young people with SEND to enjoy the game.
