Extra Young Cricket Collective Course Added

Extra Berkshire Cricket Young Volunteers Course Announced for Slough This Summer

New opportunity for 14–18-year-olds to develop cricket skills, leadership and volunteering experience

Berkshire Cricket is delighted to announce the release of an additional Young Volunteers powered by The Young Cricket Collective 2026 course, giving more young people the opportunity to get involved in cricket beyond playing.

Following strong interest in the programme, an extra course has been added at Slough Cricket Club on Wednesday 12 August 2026, from 10am–3pm.

The Young Volunteers programme is designed for young people aged 14–18 who are enthusiastic about cricket and interested in developing skills in coaching, officiating, scoring and club leadership.

The one-day course will include three engaging modules:

Activator
Young volunteers will explore what makes a great coach or activator, develop their ideas and practise delivering cricket activities using the STEP framework.

Young Officials
This practical introduction to umpiring will build confidence in decision-making, player communication and the key areas of officiating including signals, dismissals and positioning.

Club Leader
A new module for 2026, Club Leader will help participants understand the importance of volunteers and explore the different roles that make a cricket club successful, including coaching, playing, umpiring, scoring and social media.

Alongside gaining valuable experience, participants will benefit from:

• Developing leadership, teamwork, communication and organisation skills
• Supporting Duke of Edinburgh volunteering hours
• Enhancing CVs, applications and future opportunities
• Taking their first step towards becoming a qualified coach, umpire or scorer
• Being part of a fun, social and inclusive cricket environment

Young people attending will also receive branded merchandise, certificates for completing the programme and access to online learning resources.

Berkshire Cricket encourages any young person with an interest in cricket, volunteering or leadership to take advantage of this opportunity and become part of the next generation supporting the game.
