Berkshire Cricket Girls U13-U18 Observation Sessions 2026/27
Berkshire Cricket is inviting girls interested in joining its County Age Group (CAG) programme for the 2026/27 season to attend our upcoming observation sessions during October half term.
The sessions will provide an opportunity for players to demonstrate their current abilities and potential to the Berkshire Cricket coaching team, ahead of selections for the winter County Age Group Programme.
Observation Session Details (Route 2)
Thursday 29th October (3:15pm-5:15pm) @ Waingels College
Friday 30th October (3:30pm-5:30pm) @ Waingels College
Players are welcome to attend both sessions, although attending just one will not disadvantage them.

What are the different routes?
There are 3 routes through which players can be offered a place within the County Age Group Programme for the coming season;
- Route 1 – Autumn Development Programme (Already taking place)
Players can attend our 6 week Autumn Development Programme, which is designed primarily as a skill development opportunity. Alongside the development work, the programme will also provide our coaching team with an extended opportunity to observe players and assess their potential within the Berkshire Talent Pathway. At the conclusion of the 6 week programme, some players may be offered a place within the relevant County Age Group Programme.
- Route 2 – Observation Session (Information Above)
Players can attend a dedicated Observation Session in October, providing another opportunity for our coaching team to assess players ahead of the County Age Group Programme commencing. Details of which can be found above.
- Route 3 – Pre-Selection (Current CAG players only)
Some players that have been involved within the County Age Group programme this summer have already been pre-selected for a place within the County Age Group Programme. These players will not be required to attend either the Autumn Development Programme or the Observation Session as part of the selection process. Those players part of the County Age Group programme that do not receive a pre-selection space, will be invited to attend either the Autumn Development Programme or Observation Session ahead of the coaching team reviewing CAG selections at the end of the Autumn Development Programme.
It is important to note that attending the Autumn Development Programme, does not guarantee a selection onto a future programme. Equally, players who do not attend the Autumn Development Programme will still have the opportunity to be considered through the November Observation Session.
Our aim is to provide players with the best possible opportunity to demonstrate their current abilities and potential, while ensuring the process gives our coaching team enough time and information to make informed selection decisions. In 2025, players from both the Autumn Development & Observation Sessions were selected onto our County Age Group Programmes.
Who Should Not Attend?
Players already participating in Route 1 (Autumn Development Programme Sessions) do not need to attend as they will be observed within those sessions. Players who have already received a pre-selection for the County Age Group programme do not need to attend.
What happens next
Following the conclusion of our observation selection process we would look to inform players of the outcome of County Age Group selections during the week commencing the 16th November. County Age Group sessions would then begin the following week.
