On Wednesday 5th February this week, Schools Competition Manager Ally Darlow led the Berkshire Cricket team hosting our first Primary School Competition of 2025!
Four of our coaches travelled to Herschel Grammar School in Slough where we ran a Year 1 & 2 All Stars Skills Festival. Over the course of an action-packed two-hour afternoon, 100 children from nine different Slough primary schools had the opportunity to try their hand at a variety of different cricket skills stations. The day was made possible by the excellent work and tireless enthusiasm of our Berkshire coaching team, as well as 12 young leaders from Herschel Grammar.
Ally Commented “It was absolutely fantastic to run our first Skills festival of 2025. Being a part of such a successful day and seeing children, teachers, young leaders and coaches all enjoying themselves was great fun! A Huge shoutout also has to go to Yolanda Gutteridge, School Games Organiser for Slough School Sport and PE Network, for her tireless efforts in organising the whole day and putting the work in behind the scenes to make the day happen.”
The next exciting festival day we have to look forward to is after the February half-term break, when we visit The Willows on March 12th for our West Berkshire edition of the Year 1 & 2 Skills Festival, this starts off a bumper week where we then visit Bracknell for both our regional Year 1 & 2 and our Year 3 & 4 Skills Festivals on the 13th and 14th March.
We are always on the lookout for venues and schools who can host our competitions, these days have become a key part of primary school sport across Berkshire and if you can help in any way please contact Ally Darlow on [email protected].
