Berkshire Cricket Staff Update

February 21, 2025

The coming weeks will see a number of changes in our staffing, with several members of the team moving onto new, exciting challenges.

Long time Mens Head Coach Tom Lambert will be spending his summer with a new group of players as he takes up the newly created position of ‘Director of Cricket’ with his boyhood club Datchet CC.  Tom joined the coaching staff in 2012 as our Performance Manager, and his time as head coach saw six 3-day Championships, 6 Western Division Titles, seven 50-over trophies and one T20 title, making Tom the most successful coach in NCCA history.  Tom leaves the team in a great position and we wish him well with his new venture.  Read More on Tom’s huge contribution to Berkshire Cricket here . . .

Paul Bew moves to work with Surrey CCC as a regional coach and scout, after three years leading the Women & Girls Talent Pathway.  The creation of the new Womens Professional Structure has opened up more opportunities than ever before for coaches to challenge themselves in the game, and we look forward to following Surreys progress over the coming seasons.  Paul was previously an external coach on our Boys Pathway team for over a decade, we thank him for the contribution he’s made to Berkshire Cricket and wish him all the best for the future.

Tom Jackson will take up the role of Womens Talent Pathway Lead after stepping into this position over the last few months on an interim basis.  Tom will also oversee our new Womens team as they compete in Tier 3 of the new domestic structure and the inaugural ‘Womens County Cup’, which looks to replicate the FA Cup in football with recreational county teams included in a competition with Professional Counties for the first time since the now redundant C&G Trophy in the mens game.  Tom will transition into his new role over the next few weeks whilst handing over responsibility for Club support to the newly created role – See here for further information on opportunities with Berkshire Cricket.

Our Participation coaching team will have a new member for the 2025 season, as Connor Wardlaw and Ameena Firyad say goodbye.  Ameena has recently had a new addition to her family and will understandably be spending her summer making fantastic memories, and Connor is focusing on his S&C instructor work and gaining further qualifications.  Both Connor and Ameena have been fantastic coaches who have inspired hundreds of children to play cricket through their school and community sessions, and we wish them both every success.  You can read about the coach vacancy here
