Double Header for Berkshire Men’s 1st XI: Oxfordshire Away, Cornwall at Home
Berkshire’s Men’s 1st XI face a testing double header this Bank Holiday weekend, travelling to Wormsley to take on Oxfordshire on Sunday before hosting Cornwall at Slough Cricket Club on Monday. Both matches form part of the NCCA Trophy campaign, with the first ball on each day scheduled for 11am.
Momentum is building for Bjorn Mordt’s side following an impressive run chase against Wiltshire last weekend. Chasing 276, Berkshire were guided home by composed knocks from Euan Woods (72) and Archie Carter (63), while Josh Lincoln impressed with the ball, returning figures of 4/55.
Johnny Connell returns from Exeter University duties—where he struck a superb unbeaten century against a Somerset mixed academy and staff side—and comes into both matchday squads. Ben Salter is named in the Men’s 1st XI squad for the first time on Sunday, as he returns from an ankle injury, while Tommy Sturgess is named in the squad for Monday’s clash against his former county, Cornwall.
With confidence growing and competition for places intensifying, Berkshire will look to continue their strong form and take maximum points from what promises to be a pivotal weekend.
