Sunday 4th May saw Purley CC Over 55’s take on Berkshire Stags VI Cricket Club at The Goosecroft Ground in Purley.
Playing a twenty overs per side game, Stags batted first and managed to score an impressive 181 runs from their allocation of overs. Each batter contributed to the score and with batters having to retire at 25 it meant a real team effort was required to get the Stags up to a competitive total.
In the second innings, Stags bowled well to restrict Purley early on. With the rate climbing Purley sent in their big hitters in an attempt to claw themselves back into the game. Despite their best efforts Purley never quite got going and ended up 132-6. This meant due to Blind Cricket rules the match ended in a draw.
All the players involved in the game thoroughly enjoyed their day. It was a new experience for Purley CC Over 55’s and everyone at the club loved hosting the Stags.
