Berkshire Super 1’s Festival Report
Holyport Cricket Club was the venue once again for our annual Lords Taverners Super 1’s festival. On a sunny Sunday morning, players from all our Berkshire hubs came together with players from Buckinghamshire and Surrey to play a round robin tournament of soft ball cricket.
There were many returning players and plenty of new faces all looking forward to the day ahead. The morning saw 3 rounds of matches between the teams with plenty of excellent cricket on show throughout.
The barbecue was then fired up and the burgers and sausages were cooked, ready for the players to enjoy a well-earned lunch break.
Post lunch, there was a further 2 games to determine who would be the 2025 champions. The final game saw Buckinghamshire need to beat Berkshire Blues to retain their crown. Batting first Buckinghamshire got off to a flyer, smashing the ball to all parts of the ground and eventually setting a target of 109 off 12 overs. Despite their best efforts, the Blues couldn’t quite keep up with the rate and some very strong bowling from Bucks meant they were the ones that would be going home with the trophy once again.
Presenting all players with their well-deserved medals, Tristan Head (Director of Cricket at Holyport CC) commented how amazing it was to see so many young people coming together to enjoy a wonderful day of inclusive cricket. “This year the standard has been incredible and that is down to the hard work each player puts in at their weekly coaching sessions. I already can’t wait to see how fantastic the 2026 competition is going to be.”
A big thank you must go to all volunteers, players, parents and carers who contributed to such a spectacular day. Holyport Cricket Club for being such brilliant hosts and helping to organise so much of the day and a special shoutout to Angelique for selling her delicious macarons that raised over £300 towards disability cricket at Holyport CC.
There will be further opportunities for players to play in festivals over the summer months so please keep an eye out on our website for all information regarding Disability Cricket.
