Match Report: Cheshire Women’s 1st XI vs. Berkshire Women’s 1st XI

Result:

Cheshire Women won by 7 wickets, earning 4 match points to Berkshire’s none  .


 

Berkshire Innings

 

  • Electing to bat first, Berkshire posted 173 all out in 38.4 overs.

  • Lily Bowlby stood out, anchoring the innings with an unbeaten 64 off 65 balls, featuring 8 fours—brilliant under pressure  .

  • Other contributors included Poppy Tulloch (19), Francesca Sweet (18), and Fiza Nausheen Asif Iqbal (25), but none managed to build a lasting partnership  .

  • From the Cheshire bowlers, Emily Page shone with figures of 6–3–14–2, while Peyton Hulme, Sophie Heaton, and Ellie Mason each took 2 wickets  .

 


 

Cheshire Chase

  • Cheshire’s openers set a solid tone, reaching 34–1 before Megan Cureton was dismissed, followed by Emily Murray (20), and then Grace Michell (14), leaving the score at 161–3  .

  • Ellie Mason played the anchor role superbly, remaining not out on 92 off 131 balls, including 13 boundaries and a six, steering her side to the win with composure.

  • Berkshire’s bowlers toiled hard: Poppy Tulloch (1 wicket), Francesca Sweet (1), Lily Bowlby (1), with disciplined spells also from Freya Johnson, Mary Briscoe, and others—yet it wasn’t enough to stem the flow  .

 


 

Highlights & Turning Points

 

  • Lily Bowlby’s undefeated 64 gave Berkshire a fighting total, but lack of support left them vulnerable.

  • Ellie Mason’s masterful 92 not out was the cornerstone of the chase—both patient and effective.


Summary

 

Berkshire battled admirably but couldn’t seize control after a mid-innings wobble, despite solid contributions. In reply, Cheshire’s chase was anchored by Mason’s calm innings and fuelled by plentiful extras. A convincing 7-wicket win for Cheshire Women’s 1st XI—4 points earned, and a strong statement made in this fixture. Berkshire return to action on Sunday August 24th when they head to LittleStoke CC to take on Staffordshire
