Match Report
Berkshire played their last 3 day game at home at the beautiful Falkland ground last weekend against Herefordshire CC.
Herefordshire batted first after winning the toss. Openers Matt Pardoe (80) and Ben Chapman-Lilley (86) put on a commanding 160-run partnership their highest-ever opening stand against Berkshire .Though off-spinner Adam Searle responded with a career-best 7–134, Herefordshire amassed a total of 397 .In reply, Taylor Cornall wreaked havoc early, claiming 4–9, helping reduce Berkshire to 74–5 by the close of day one. On day 2 , Captain Lincoln and young Eddie Campion rescued Berkshire with an excellent 8th wicket partnership. Lincoln made an impressive century and Campion a championship best of 78.
Herefordshire then set Berkshire 409 in 87 overs. Berkshire’s captain Dan Lincoln showcased remarkable resilience, following up his first-innings century with an unbeaten 87, steering his side to safety and denying Herefordshire their first win over Berkshire since 2014 .
The match ended in a draw, with Berkshire finishing on 346–9.
Spin was again effective, with Imaad Mahmood (4–78) and Taylor Cornall (3–85) ,although they couldn’t dismiss the crucial last-wicket pair .
Despite Herefordshire’s strong position bolstered by a record opening stand and a dominant performance with both bat and ball Berkshire held firm. As a result, Herefordshire’s campaign continues with a notable near-miss, while Berkshire retains their unbeaten reputation against this opponent.
