Berkshire Cricket Delivers Inspiring Schools Day Across the County

Schools across Berkshire are coming alive with cricket today as Berkshire Cricket’s school coaching team delivers a special ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Schools Day, part of the national countdown to this summer’s tournament in England and Wales.

The initiative is introducing young people—particularly girls—to cricket through fun, inclusive, and accessible activities delivered throughout the school day. From playground games to structured coaching sessions, pupils are experiencing cricket in a way that is engaging, creative, and welcoming to all abilities.

Today, Berkshire Cricket’s coaching team is working directly with pupils and staff in the following schools:

  • Riverside Primary School
  • Courthouse Junior School
  • The Wren School
  • Kintbury St Mary’s C.E. Primary School
  • Kennet School
  • Addington School
  • The Avenue School
  • Newlands Girls’ School

Throughout the day, activities include skills-based sessions, mini games, and classroom-linked learning designed to bring cricket to life beyond the boundary. The programme is part of a nationwide effort to inspire the next generation of players and fans ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

Women & Girls Development Officer Michelle Jeyarajah said:

“Schools Day is a fantastic opportunity to connect young people with cricket in a fun and inclusive way. With the excitement of the Women’s T20 World Cup building, we’re proud to support schools in creating memorable experiences that can spark a lifelong love of the game.”

The campaign is supported by key partners across the cricket network, helping schools access resources, coaching expertise, and opportunities to stay involved in the sport beyond the event.

Berkshire Cricket is encouraging schools, teachers, and families to share their experiences from today as the region celebrates cricket together.
