Men’s 1st XI Slip to Devon Defeat

May 5, 2026

Berkshire fell to defeat at Falkland Cricket Club by 43 runs in their latest NCCA Trophy outing, as Devon produced a strong all-round display. Berkshire were unable to build sustained momentum with either bat or ball.

After losing key wickets at regular intervals, Berkshire struggled to establish partnerships that could shift pressure back onto Devon. The visitors kept control through disciplined bowling and sharp work in the field, restricting Berkshire’s scoring opportunities and ensuring wickets continued to fall at important stages.

With the ball, Berkshire fought hard to create openings. Greatwood , Woods and Daniel were all excellent and were backed by some excellent fielding with Connell taking 4 catches.

Despite the result, Berkshire will take valuable lessons from the fixture as attention quickly turns to next weekend’s challenge.

Head Coach Bjorn Mordt reflected on the performance after the game:

“Tough day for the Berkshire boys today but we are happy with where we are and will look to get back to winning ways next Sunday at Wargrave vs Herefordshire. We as a group will learn a lot from today and no doubt it will make us better.”

Berkshire now regroup ahead of their next fixture at Wargrave, where they will look to respond strongly and return to winning ways.
