Emmbrook and Bearwood CC played host to our end of season SEND (Special educational needs and disabilities) skills festival on Wednesday. The day gave primary schools the opportunity to learn new cricket skills before putting them into practice with a game.
With the sun shining, the students arrived excited for the morning of cricket ahead. The day started with a throwing and catching warm up before Penelope ran her trademark cone strike bowling game. Every student tried their hardest throughout the skills stations, learning new techniques to help them become a confident cricketer.
The morning finished with an energetic game of Rapid-Fire Cricket between the schools. Batters were whacking the ball to all parts of the ground, whilst the fielding team were demonstrating some fantastic team work to limit the number of runs being scored. After the teachers had their turn at trying to beat the children’s score (with minimal success), medals and stickers were handed out to all the students that took part.
A huge thank you must go to Emmbrook and Bearwood CC who have been huge supporters of our aim to increase the number of clubs hosting disability cricket in the county. As a new Disability Champion Club for 2025, the club will now receive an ECB grant and resources to help them continue to grow their offer.
