Chance to Shine Nominated for Smiley Award for 20th Anniversary Documentary

Our fantastic charity partner Chance to Shine have been nominated for a Smiley Award for its 20th anniversary documentary, 20 Years of Chance to Shine. The Smiley Awards celebrate films that create positive social impact, with the shortlist decided by public vote.

The documentary tells the story of Chance to Shine’s journey from a single school cricket session in Bethnal Green in 2005 to reaching almost 8 million young people through cricket in schools, hospitals and communities across England, Wales and Scotland.

The film features powerful personal stories, including England international Georgia Davis, who credits Chance to Shine for starting her cricket journey; Jack, who found confidence and joy through cricket while undergoing cancer treatment at Great Ormond Street Hospital; and Bashir, a young Afghan refugee whose life was transformed through a Chance to Shine Street club.

Public voting is now open and closes on 30 January 2026. Supporters can vote for 20 Years of Chance to Shine via the Smiley Charity Film Awards website and help ensure these inspiring stories are seen and celebrated.
