Berkshire to Host ECB ACO Umpire Development Course in March 2026
Berkshire ECB ACO is pleased to announce the Berkshire ECB ACO Umpire Development Course, a two-day programme designed to support the development of cricket umpires progressing into league and one-day recreational matches.
The course aims to bridge the gap between introductory umpire training and the practical demands of officiating in league cricket. It provides participants with the opportunity to refresh their knowledge of the Laws of Cricket while developing essential field craft, positioning, decision-making, and on-field confidence.
The programme is ideally suited to individuals who have completed the ECB Introduction to Umpiring, those with previous playing or umpiring experience, and scorers who wish to gain a greater understanding of the umpire’s role within the game.
The course will be delivered over two Sundays, allowing participants time to complete pre-course preparation and short homework tasks between sessions. While the work is not formally assessed, active participation is expected, with discussion and questioning forming a key part of the learning experience.
Importantly, the course is open to anyone wishing to improve their umpiring skills, regardless of long-term officiating ambitions, reinforcing a commitment to inclusivity and development at all levels of the game.
