Participants from Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Valley End Super 1’s gathered on Sunday 31st May to compete in the annual Berkshire Disability Festival at Holyport Cricket Club. Into its 4th year, the day continues to grow from strength to strength with more participants taking part each year. This year, over 60 players competed in 15 matches which culminated in a nail-biting tie in the final between Berkshire Blues and Holyport Lightning.
Off the pitch, spectators, umpires and players were treated to a delightful barbecue with the meat supplied from J&S Rook Butchers. The bar staff were also hard at work helping to keep everyone hydrated throughout.
A massive thank you must go to Tim Sutton and Tristan Head from Holyport Cricket Club for their hard work in helping to organise such a wonderful event. A huge well done must also go to all the players that took part, for playing the game in such wonderful spirits which helped create a fun and inclusive day.
2027 will be our 5th year of competition and we can’t wait to make it an even bigger event so more young people with disabilities can enjoy the sport.
