Young Cricket Leaders Invited to Become Champions of Change

Applications now open for new ECB initiative empowering 14–18-year-olds to make a difference through cricket
Young people across Berkshire are being encouraged to apply for a new opportunity that will help them develop their leadership skills, build confidence, and create positive change within their cricket clubs and communities.
Champions of Change, a new initiative launched by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) alongside the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, is designed to support young people aged 14–18 to turn their ideas into action through cricket.
The programme gives participants the chance to design and deliver a project that improves their club or local community, while receiving training, mentorship, and ongoing support to help bring their ideas to life.
Whether it’s creating a new girls’ cricket section, improving club facilities, designing a more inclusive kit, or establishing a youth committee, Champions of Change is open to anyone with an idea and the enthusiasm to make a difference.
Participants will benefit from:
- Developing and delivering a project that creates a positive impact
- Building leadership skills and confidence
- Connecting with a network of like-minded young people
- Receiving training, guidance, and mentorship
- Accessing exclusive ICC Women’s T20 World Cup merchandise
The programme will run throughout the summer and will include an in-person workshop, online learning sessions, and continued support as participants develop and deliver their projects.
Berkshire Cricket is encouraging clubs and community organisations across the county to share this opportunity with young players, volunteers, and aspiring leaders who want to help shape the future of cricket.
Berkshire Cricket’s Ben Abrahams said:
“Champions of Change is a fantastic opportunity for young people to have their voices heard and play an active role in improving their clubs and communities. We want to encourage as many young people as possible across Berkshire to get involved, share their ideas, and become the next generation of cricket leaders.”
Young people do not need a fully developed plan to apply – just an idea, passion, and a desire to create positive change.
Applications are now open. The deadline to apply is Sunday 5 July.
