Berkshire Ready for NCCA Trophy Semi-Final Showdown
Berkshire return to Wargrave Cricket Club on Sunday looking to take another step towards National Counties Trophy glory when they host Oxfordshire in the 50-over semi-final.
Led by captain Andy Rishton, Berkshire go into the contest full of confidence after a commanding quarter-final victory over Buckinghamshire. An outstanding all-round performance saw Berkshire post an imposing 308-5 before dismissing their previously unbeaten opponents for 184, securing a comprehensive 124-run win. James Isbell (83), Charlie Dunnett (77) and Euan Woods (47*) starred with the bat, while Rishton led from the front with a superb spell of 4-20.
The victory underlined Berkshire’s credentials as genuine title contenders and earned them home advantage for Sunday’s semi-final against an Oxfordshire side that booked their place in the last four with a comfortable seven-wicket win over Wiltshire.
Wargrave has been a happy hunting ground for Berkshire this season and the hosts will be hoping for another strong turnout as they look to reach the National Counties Trophy final. With a powerful batting line-up, an experienced bowling attack and the leadership of Rishton, Berkshire will be aiming to build on the momentum generated by their emphatic quarter-final success.
Oxfordshire will provide a stern test, but Berkshire know that another performance of the quality shown against Buckinghamshire could see them secure a place in the final.
