2027 Coach Development Courses and ECB Learning Workshops Live Now
Berkshire Cricket is pleased to announce the pre-release of its 2027 coach development programme, with new dates now available for ECB Foundation Coach, ECB Core Coach and ECB Coach Learning Workshops.
Whether you are taking your first steps into coaching, looking to develop your skills and gain your next qualification, or simply want to learn from experienced coaches working at the highest level of the game, there are opportunities for coaches across Berkshire to get involved.
ECB Foundation Coach – Level 1
The ECB Foundation Coach is the entry-level qualification for coaches looking to take their first steps into coaching cricket.
The programme combines e-learning with face-to-face modules led by ECB Coach Developers, helping coaches develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to deliver active, purposeful, enjoyable and safe cricket sessions.
Two 2027 courses are currently available:
- Little Heath School, Reading – Sunday 24 & 31 January 2027, 9:30am–3:30pm
- Little Heath School, Reading – Sunday 14 & 21 March 2027, 9:30am–3:30pm
The Foundation Coach qualification enables coaches to lead cricket sessions independently and without supervision.

ECB Foundation Coach – Level 1
ECB Core Coach – Level 2
For coaches with previous cricket or coaching experience who are looking to coach regularly at a club or school, the ECB Core Coach programme provides the next step on the coaching pathway.
The course focuses on player-centred coaching, planning and development, alongside the core principles of batting, bowling, fielding and wicketkeeping, as well as tactical, physical and mental skills.
Three 2027 courses are currently available:
- Little Heath School, Reading – Sunday 7, 21 & 28 February and 7 March 2027
- Slough & Eton School, Slough – Wednesday 31 March, Thursday 1, Wednesday 7 & Thursday 8 April 2027
- Falkland Cricket Club – Tuesday 1, Wednesday 2 & Thursday 3 June 2027
The Core Coach programme is open to candidates aged 17 and over, with certification from 18, and requires coaches to complete all course modules and assessments.

ECB Core Coach – Level 2
ECB Coach Learning Workshops
Berkshire Cricket will also host two specialist ECB Coach Learning Workshops in 2027, led by experienced Senior ECB Coach Developers.
Both workshops run from 10am–3pm and cost just £20, providing an excellent opportunity to develop your coaching knowledge and take away practical ideas to use with players. Places are first come, first served.
Attack, Defend, Catch and Throw with Paul Tweddle
Sunday 17 January 2027 – Little Heath School, Reading
ECB Level 4 Coach and Somerset CCC Assistant Coach Paul Tweddle will deliver a practical fielding workshop exploring ideas around creating wicket-taking opportunities in the field.
Paul has also worked with the England Men’s T20 Squad, England Lions and England Women’s Development squads.
Scoring Runs with Tom Huggins
Sunday 14 February 2027 – Little Heath School, Reading
ECB Level 4 Coach and Essex CCC Batting Coach Tom Huggins will share his experience from the professional game and talent pathway, with a focus on developing batting and helping players score runs.
Tom previously played professionally for Northamptonshire and spent a long period with Suffolk before moving into coaching with Essex.
