U15 Finals
Congratulations to Valley End on winning the U15 Blast following a comprehensive 78-run win over Maidenhead & Bray.
After winning the toss, and electing to bat first, Valley End posted a sizeable score of 202-4 from 20 overs. It was a real collective effort with all Valley End players reaching double figures There were impressive batting contributions from George Smith (43 off 30 balls), Henry Graham (50* from 37 balls) and James McGill (30 off 20 balls including 2 sixes). Maidenhead & Bray stayed strong with the ball with George Denning taking 2-31.
In reply, Maidenhead fell short on 124-7. The wickets were shared among the Valley End bowlers in a real team effort, although Tyler McGill starred with figures of 2-16. With the bat, Om Phatak scored a very well earned 25, while Freddie Morris remained not out with 28 off 22 balls.
U17 Finals
In the U17s final, Slough beat Finchampstead in a thriller winning by four runs!
After losing the toss and fielding first, Finchampstead’s Liam Amy removed both Slough openers finishing with figures of 2-24. However, an excellent 57-run partnership between Mueez Ahmed (51*) and Kiaan Gulati was central to Slough posting 134-5 off 20 overs. In addition, a solid 34-run stand between Muhammad Mahad Khan (19 off 13) and Armaan Mohammed (14 off 9) ensured the innings ended positively. Finchampstead were alive in the field with two Slough batters run out.
In response, Finchampstead started positively with Rohit Kanagavel scoring a fantastic run a ball 41. Slough’s opening bowler Muhammad Mahad Khan bowled with real intensity taking a key wicket with the dismissal of Freddie Bishop after an eight ball, 12. Kanagavel was well supported by Liam Amy (27 off 22 balls) before he was run out coming back for a second run. Sharma Veeturi took two wickets for Slough, but both Mahad Khan and Kiaan Gulati stepped up when the pressure was on. With Finchampstead needing 11 off the final two overs after fine batting from Finn Borkowski (15 off 8), the penultimate over saw just four runs scored. Gulati’s final over resulted in a well-deserved wicket after an excellent bowling spell (1-13 off 4 overs) and just 2 runs ensuring Slough got over the line.
