Berkshire Cricket Celebration Evening

Berkshire Cricket Celebration 2026 celebrates outstanding season

Berkshire Cricket brought the 2026 season to a memorable close with the annual Berkshire Cricket Celebration, hosted by CEO Mark Roche at a packed Wokingham Cricket Club.

The evening brought together players, coaches, volunteers, officials, club representatives and supporters to celebrate an outstanding year for Berkshire Cricket and recognise the achievements of those who have contributed to the game across the county.

Celebrating a historic season

There was plenty to celebrate on the field, with Berkshire’s Men’s and Women’s 1st XIs both enjoying hugely successful seasons.

For the Men’s 1st XI, Euan Woods was named Player of the Year, with Ben Slater receiving the Young Player of the Year award. The Dave Burden Shield was presented to Tom Wellings.

Head Coach Bjorn Mordt praised an outstanding season which saw Berkshire win both white-ball trophies, a unique achievement in National Counties Cricket, he praised the character and togetherness of a young Berkshire side which became the first county to win both the NCCA 50-over and T20 competitions in the same season.

“I’m incredibly proud of what these boys have achieved this year. Everyone stepped up at different moments, showed tremendous belief and embraced the pressure when it mattered. It has been a brilliant season for the group and a fantastic achievement for Berkshire Cricket.”
— Bjorn Mordt, Men’s 1st XI Head Coach

The Women’s 1st XI also enjoyed a fantastic campaign. Naaz Asif Iqbal was named Player of the Year, while Immi Storrar received the Emerging Player of the Year award and Livia Sharma was named Young Player of the Year.

Women’s Head Coach Tom Jackson praised the team for a fantastic season which saw Berkshire crowned Vitality Blast Women’s League 3 Division 1 Champions and finish as runners-up in the Metro Bank One Day Cup Women’s League 3 Division 1.

“It has been a fantastic season for the group and a real reflection of the hard work and commitment shown by the players throughout the year. Winning the T20 trophy was a brilliant achievement, while coming runners up in the 50-over competition shows the consistency and quality within the squad. I’m particularly proud of the opportunities we’ve been able to give our younger players and the way the whole group has continued to develop.”
— Tom Jackson, Women’s 1st XI Head Coach

Celebrating the Cricket Collective

The evening also provided an opportunity to celebrate Berkshire’s Cricket Collective Award winners, recognising the outstanding contribution of individuals across clubs and the wider cricket community.

Paul Tatum of Wokingham CC was named Coach of the Year, David Oliver of Sandhurst CC received the Unsung Hero Award, while Dan Le Fleming of Cookham Dean CC was named League Legend.

The winners of these awards, along with the winners of all the other Cricket Collective categories, will join Berkshire Cricket as guests at this week’s Hampshire v Sussex County Championship match at the Utilita Bowl, where the remaining winners will be presented with their trophies and certificates.

CEO Mark Roche reflected on the successful evening

“It was a fantastic evening and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate everything that makes Berkshire Cricket special. The achievements of our players this season have been outstanding, but just as important is recognising the coaches, volunteers, clubs and supporters who work tirelessly to make cricket happen across the county. — Mark Roche, CEO, Berkshire Cricket
