Berkshire Cricket Appoints Alistair Scott as New Chair

Berkshire Cricket is pleased to announce the appointment of Alistair Scott as its new Chair, succeeding Jayne Haines, who steps down after three years of dedicated service in the role.

Alistair brings a wealth of leadership and business development experience, along with a strong commitment to growing cricket across Berkshire. As Chair, he will work closely with the Board, Executive, partners, and stakeholders to support the continued development of the game at every level throughout the county.

The appointment marks an exciting new chapter for Berkshire Cricket, while also recognising the significant contribution of Jayne Haines during her tenure. Since becoming Chair in 2023, Jayne has provided strong, inclusive leadership, guiding the organisation through a period of growth and development for recreational cricket across Berkshire.

Speaking on his appointment, Alistair said:

“I am honoured to be appointed Chair of Berkshire Cricket. Cricket plays a vital role in bringing communities together across our county, and I am looking forward to building on the excellent progress made in recent years. Berkshire Cricket has a strong foundation and an ambitious future, and I am excited to help shape the next stage of its journey.”

Jayne Haines said:

“It has been a privilege to serve as Chair of Berkshire Cricket. I am incredibly proud of what has been achieved through the dedication of our staff, volunteers, clubs and partners. Cricket in Berkshire is in a strong position, and I am delighted to be handing over to Alistair, whose experience and enthusiasm will help drive the organisation to the next stage.”

Berkshire Cricket Chief Executive Mark Roche said:

“We are delighted to welcome Alistair as our new Chair. His leadership experience and passion for community sport make him an excellent appointment for Berkshire Cricket. We are looking forward to working closely with him as we continue to deliver opportunities for people across Berkshire to play, support and enjoy cricket. I would also like to place on record our sincere thanks to Jayne for her invaluable contribution and leadership over the past three years.”

Alistair Scott will officially take up the role of Chair following the October Board meeting.  At the October Board meeting two current Trustees will step down following the completion of their third term – Stephen Spencer-Jones and Gulfraz Riaz have been integral parts of the growth and development of Berkshire Cricket since its move to a charitable foundation in 2016.  All at Berkshire Cricket thank them for their time, commitment, and guidance during our early formative years.
