The first of our SEND schools’ events for 2026/27 took place on Thursday 1 October at Great Hollands Recreation Ground in Bracknell. Fifteen primary schools from Bracknell took part in a skills day where they learned how to bat, bowl and field. Rotating between stations, the participants were encouraged to try their best while having lots of fun.
After lots of practice and hard work, the participants put their skills to the test in a game of Rapid-Fire cricket. This saw schools competing against each other to see who could score the most runs. Each participant tried their best to hit the balls as far as they could and run as quickly as they could to build the score for their team. There was some fantastic batting on show and some excellent fielding to match which was testament to the efforts the children had put in during the day.
Commenting on the event, Disability Officer Chris said: “It was great to see so many children here having fun and learning some new skills. These events are important to us and we’re grateful to the Bracknell Forest School Sport Partnership for helping us to run the event and showcase how cricket can be a game for everyone.”
Berkshire Cricket will be running more skills days throughout the year so more children can enjoy the benefits the sport can bring to people.
